Google Simple short URL

I have been wanting to apply/ work at google for a while, and one thing I wanted to do was to register g.co for Google. They have already announced that they will do just that ~

This is the design I was thinking was would be good for this shortlink ~ minimalistic and fast ~

What they could also do is make these shortlinks:

It would save a lot of cumulative seconds with less typing ~

Android Update, Use Apple earphones

When I first got my shiny Nexus S Android phone, I was so excited at the new unjailed possibilities, fascinated with the new things I could now do with this Android smart phone OS happiness ~

But I was displeased when i put the earbuds in my ears, and they would fall out, not hooking to my ears. And when I tried my old iPhone headphones, the buttons did nothing…

But in the recent update, Android also slipped in the functionality to use apple earphones to start stop music etc.

Just a small thing that made things better… I wonder how many people this affected~

Fight spam, help Book scanning – ReCaptcha

I had seen ReCaptcha forms around the internet a lot, and thought that maybe it was some giant company that was keeping websites secure, maybe too expensive for the little people to use ~ like SSL or something.. But only recently did I find the awesome facts about ReCaptcha~

Recaptcha by Google

Why do we always need to type in these annoying things?

The reason why many websites use these forms, is that people can write programs to go through the internet and collect data or send data…

Google uses this to scan pretty much the whole internet, so we can search it, but it can be used for harm too. EG: you could write a program to search for the “@” symbol, and try to find email addresses (to send spam to), or find forms, to send comments, messages and emails that have spam in them…

One way to stop this, is to never type your email address anywhere on the internet… (you can use an email form…) and if you do have an email form, use a captcha image to test whether the thing sending the form is a human, or internet virus robot.

Why ReCaptcha is awesome

ReCaptcha is a free service that was aquired by Google, and is actually used to help scan books. When book scanners fail to read a word, the word is send to many ReCaptcha systems and people solve it.

Security + helpful function.

Awesome ~

Free open fonts for web design and graphic design

While watching Google IO 2011, I was surprised why one developer was so excited about Google Webfonts, but now I share his excitement!

The internet really is limited with the selection of fonts… It seems that there are so few fonts that you can expect the different operating systems to all have, and having other fonts embedded into the page seems dirty and perhaps illegal in some cases…

But Google have a huge growing archive of webfonts, that you can use with one line of meta code (and you can download the fonts themselves to use for graphic design), and you can use these open free fonts on your site, works on all browsers, works fast.

A subtle change in fonts on a webpage can really add a new feel to it, and enhance the style of existing websites.

I would love to make a font set one day, maybe it will end up in the Google font archive…
